Parking Blues
30 June 2006
A Parliamentary Committee has made official, what we already knew, or what Monty Python called, “The Bleeding Obvious”. Yes, esteemed Members of Parliament have indeed confirmed that parking rules, signs and restrictions are “unclear” and that something should be done.
In my case, what I call a “Royal Parking Kerfuffle” which is fully described in these pages, the parking restriction notices are so unclear that they do not in fact exist.
Westminster Council however says that they do exist and The Parking and Traffic and Appeals Service agrees with them, and in fact they have upheld the appeal and have written to me claiming they have received evidence from Westminster Council that proves it. I thought I would test this evidence and first wrote to Westminster Council and asked to see the evidence. I assume they considered my request beneath contempt because they simply ignored the question. I wrote again and again and then I stated asking The Appeals Service Adjudicators to provide me with the evidence that they say they have seen that would clear it up in my mind. They also regarded my demands to see the evidence, as “intemperate” Well, excuse me for asking. I asked again and again for a copy of the evidence of these signs. SEVENTEEN Exchanges of letters to and from the Westminster Council and the Parking Appeals Service and I have still not seen the elusive evidence of signs that do not exist.
I have also demanded to see that evidence citing the Freedom Of Information Act. Watch This Space.
